Evaluation

My magazine is a mass market product magazine it is for all the pop music fans and there are lots of them. I feel I have used the similar print magazine conventions like eye contact and writing down the sides of the picture not on it . Also, I feel I have used a good way of having the picture covering the hole page with white space to put dark coloured writing which will stand out. I feel I have used the white in a good way but some might see it all as too much white. If so I would do the next issue with less white but keep the fizz font the same to emphasise house style , just change the colour and size.My magazine is for teenagers I have used a teen girl to represent the teens i am trying to appear to am this is girls more than boys. Shaylee is also wearing a dress this represents the new and modern appeal of the magazine, which might pick out the idea that its a really girly magazine I also used the colours purple and light tones she is also stood towards a wall but looking back this is different to all the poses normally on magazines and draws you in with her glance with the way she is standing make her look very feminine and the necklace going long at the back, means new fashion and new look so you will then think its a new magazine with new style and teenagers like to be in the new style and get the resent news and trends.

Dobble Page Spread

This is my picture to go on my double page spread i like it because Shaylee is in the same clothes and has the same light on her but has a cool twirly background and this well link the front cover and double page spread. I wanted to keep the idea of having the picture on the left and the writing matching the pictures colours, so i felt blue purple black and gray where the best colours to do this with. I also moved the introduction to the left above the picture on the writing side I put in a box with the main thing Shaylee says and that to make it stand out i also put were the names of Shaylee and fizz in frount of the writing so the readers willl now how said what i also put blue colour of Shaylee for what she says and all the fizz names are in the logo with the foint being purple i have then put all the other writing in black and i have nearly got my final double page spread, but one thing I felt it was all to light but i don't want it to be to dark so i put pink in the background not white for the last copy i have also used a different font this is to make it look less like a word document and makes the title stand out more.

This was my first draft of my double page spread it has the convention that i have seen in many music magazines, and i have kept with the picture being on the left page and the writing being on the right page in two columns.

final contents page

These are the pictures for my contents page there are not all just stood posing, but i got photos from my holiday and of a ball dress this is to make the pictures look more like magazine pictures I have used captions for my magazine with coloured backgrounds to make the finished contents page.

I wanted to inclide a veriety of shots for example
a some are close up shot and some are long shot .

Contents Pages

These are my contents pages the red one is the first idea i liked the lines and the boxes but not the writing or the colour so i changed it to the yellow one witch i liked but i needed to change the colours more so i tried purple this worked so i put all the writing in and the mic in the corner then i asked my friend witch one the preferred and the pick the purple one so this i worked on to bet the finished result.

Basically i change contrast of the picture so it is lighter this means the right bottom corner so this means you could not see the yellow written on this so i tried to move the yellow over on to the arm but i did not like this so i decided to change the colour to blue witch works well and i am happy the result of my final front cover.

Here i have changed the yellow font to a size bigger and changed what i have written in yellow. I needed to put more in about the contents of the magazine on the front page because i already have the main story in the box. I added some blue writing to add to the colour and this is the writing that was in yellow this worked because it is a rhetorical question which helps the reader to pick the magazine up.

Playing with font and picture placement.

Then I decided to use the other picture and put it down the page but still I was not happy and fort if it has the text it would look much better but with the writing looked to boring so I put the boxes bigger and the writing bigger and have a different still this worked better but I still did not like the picture and how it was set out on the page so I did it as full screen and changed the ticker tape to white with a purple out lie but I liked it better with all of it being purple.
On this last magazine front cover I decided was all two mush to the left and so I felt the writing needed to be on the right and not in boxes .

After I tried the idea of it slanted I found I did not like it so I tried it half way down the page when I did not like this it did not look perfection and so I tried it on the hole page this was the best one with this picture but it was to fussy .

This one I stated choosing font colour to see if font will help it look better I chose light blue and found it did not work because I could not read it so I needed to have a background without the twirls or a barker colour

I liked the idea of the writing here if it was a darker colour it was different but I just did not like the way the picture was.

These are the three photos I could use for the front cover.

The first one is two dark and if it was blown up it would go all blurry. The second photo I love it has a very good background but can not be blown up too much for the front page so I will use this for the double page spread. The last one wet well and gives me space to write it the bottom right also it is a different kind of photo from normal pictures on a front cover.

The idea before the picture

Before I have my picture I fort of an idea that I would use this seemed good but when I got my picture my model was not in this pose she was in a white background and also I found that the font was not going to go. but I still liked the idea of the picture being slanted half way of the page so I gave that ago.

Why Pop Music

Pop music is the type of music magazine I am doing I felt I would get a picture best to match it and also I love pop music so I know what others my age who love pop music so I know what the target audience will like and that they will what to by it, I fell there are a lot of band magazines and R and B magazines so I felt lets add to the pop magazine main reason its was on questionnaire most people I asked loved pop and another type but mainly pop so I felt this would sale well and would be popular.

The brief for my magazine
This task is to design a new magazine condense page and double page spread for a music magazine. There must be over 4 images that we have taken and we must make up a master head that has not been used before.
Research

•Looking at kerrang Issue no 1237
•The title is in bold white next to the contrast of the black pictures which makes it stand out. In this main picture the man is in sunglasses this means he does not have direct eye contact, but this is a good thing on this one because it might be a bit secretive and you want to now why. Also they are known to be cool and you don’t know if he is looking at you or not and therefore it would still make you pick it up. to know it is a music magazine they have gave him a mica phone and he is a main famous singer in a band. The fact that he is the singer makes the girls like him best so it going to be a seller. In has a strip just under the middle of the page this is an effect done to make it look like they have just panted a one line going across the page. The colours uses are white writing with gold smaller writing under the white.
